Olga Solarikova

Woman of Substance in the Gas Industry


Madame Olga Solarikova, is the former Head of the Czech Gas Association. Olga started her career as a chemical engineer doing gas analysis in the laboratory. The job inspired her to take up courses on development of the gas industry in Europe. After that she assumed a position in the Research and Development department in the same company. Her superiors are supportive of her role and she sees no disadvantage as a woman in the gas industry.


Madame Olga took up a special 3-year course at a law university to focus on industry law, after which it landed her in a new job at a leading gas company in Czech Republic.


In 1991, Madame Olga was elected as the Secretary General of the Czech Gas Association, a position which she assumes for 15 years until she retired.


Even then, Madam Olga is still active as a member of the Board of the Czech Gas Association. For someone who dreamt to be a lawyer and originally quite happy as a chemist, Madame Olga lived by her motto of "why not just try it" to inspire her to achieve more in the gas industry and contribute to societal progress.


Madame Olga enjoys networking and sees the gas industry as a rapidly growing industry which is evolving.
