Sofiah Sharbudeen loves the all-action side of her job, where she gets to ride in helicopters, transfer baskets and "tarzan" rope from boat to rig. Being a woman on board a rig full of men though, has its share of nerve-wrecking episodes for Sofiah. But she has risen above it, and is now currently the Head of Drilling at PETRONAS Carigali (Oman) Ltd, Sultanate of Oman. She is spearheading an unprecedented venture for Petronas in which the wells in Oman will be drilled to depths of 5000m, penetrating the tightest gas reservoirs PETRONAS has ever ventured.
