In conjunction with the 25th World Gas Conference to be organized in Kuala Lumpur in 2012, ItsNotMagicItsScience.com is organizing the “Gas, Camera, Action! Online Photography Contest with the aim of increasing the awareness of the general public of gas and gas related areas.

Contest Description
The "Gas, Camera, Action!" photography contest ("Contest") is organized by ItsNotMagicItsScience.com.


The Contest is open from 15 November 2011 - 14 May 2012 and will take place over 3 online platforms (Facebook, instagr.am and Flickr).


The Grand Prize winner of each of the 3 platforms will receive Grand Prize of One Thousand (1,000) Euros, sponsored by GasTerra.


Eligibility

1. The Contest is open worldwide to contestants above the age of thirteen (13) years.
2. Entry to the Contest is FREE.
3. Based on the theme "Natural gas in our everyday lives", contestant is required to submit creative photographs to either or all 3 Contest platforms (Facebook, instagr.am and Flickr).
4. All submissions MUST be accompanied by a creative caption that best describes the concept of the photograph, linking it back to "Natural Gas in our everyday lives". The creative caption must be in English.
5. Facebook platform
in order to participate on the Facebook platform, contestant must be a fan of the ItsNotMagicItsScience Facebook page.

Only photos posted on to ItsNotMagicItsScience's Facebook page Photo Wall, accompanied by a creative caption and tagged with ItsNotMagicItsScience will be eligible.
6. instagr.am platform
In order to participate in the Contest on the instagr.am platform, contestant must be a follower of the ItsNotMagicItsScience instagr.am account.

Candidates must have the "Photos are private" setting in their instagr.am account switched off in order for their photo submissions to be viewed.

Only photographs accompanied by a creative caption and tagged with #ItsNotMagicItsScience will be eligible.
7. Flickr platform
In order to participate in the Contest on the Flickr platform, contestant must join the "Gas, Camera, Action!" Flickr Group created by ItsNotMagicItsScience.

Only photographs tagged ItsNotMagicItsScience and accompanied by a creative caption and submitted into this group will be eligible.
8. Contestant is allowed to enter submissions on all three (3) Contest platforms (Facebook, instagr.am and Flickr) and may submit as many entries as they wish but however, each contestant is only allowed to win one (1) Grand Prize in the Contest.
9. The use of photo editing software and filters are allowed.
10. All photographs submitted must represent the original work of the contestant. Submissions which do not belong to a contestant shall be automatically disqualified.
11. Submissions deemed by the judges to not be in line with the theme of the Gas, Camera, Action! Photo Contest will not be considered and not be included in the judging process.
12. Submissions containing NUDITY, PORNOGRAPHY, drugs or banned or unlawful substance abuse, VIOLENCE or containing any other elements which are against civil order are strictly prohibited and such submissions will be automatically disqualified.
13. For monthly entries, photographs must be submitted before midnight (GMT + 08:00 hours) on the last day of each month to be eligible. Monthly qualifier deadlines are:

15th November 2011 - 14th December 2011
15th December 2011 - 14th January 2011
15th January 2012 - 14th February 2012
15th February 2012 - 14th March 2012
15th March 2012 - 14th April 2012
15th April 2012 - 14th May 2012
14. Late, incomplete or corrupt entries will not be accepted and appeals will not be entertained.


Shortlisting of finalists
The panel of judges shall decide on the shortlist of finalists based on the following criterion:

1. Two (2) finalists each per month from Facebook and instagr.am to be chosen by the panel of judges from among the top 15 most "LIKED" photographs and captions from each platform within that month. Should the judges feel a submission does not relate to the theme of the competition, the said submission will not be considered valid. The panel of judges' decision is final and conclusive and no appeals will be entertained.
2. Two (2) finalists per month from Flickr chosen by the panel of judges. The decision of the panel of judges' shall be final and conclusive and no appeals will be entertained.
3. Monthly Shortlisted finalists will be announced on ItsNotMagicItsScience.com and the ItsNotMagicItsScience Facebook page every month.
4. Based on the Shortlist of Finalists, there will be a total of thirty six (36) finalists at the end of the Contest Period ending May 2012 who will be eligible to compete for the Grand Prizes.
5. All thirty six (36) finalists will be required to submit the highest resolution image of their chosen photograph with caption that is fit for public display at WGC2012 in Kuala Lumpur between 4th June 2012 – 8th June 2012.
6. Photos submitted will only be eligible for the qualifying month in which it was submitted in.


Judging

1. Three (3) Grand Prize winners will be selected by the panel of judges from the thirty six (36) monthly shortlisted finalists:
 
a) One (1) Grand Prize winner from the 12 finalists on the Facebook platform.
b) One (1) Grand Prize winner from the 12 finalists on the instagr.am platform.
c) One (1) Grand Prize winner from the 12 finalists on the Flickr platform.


Announcements and Correspondence
All announcements regarding the Contest will be made as follows:

1. On ItsNotMagicItsScience.com.
2. Facebook:
Announcements will be made on the ItsNotMagicItsScience Facebook page. Shortlisted finalists will be sent a private message on Facebook. Shortlisted finalists will then be required to provide their personal and contact details to ItsNotMagicItsScience and a copy of their submitted photo in the highest possible resolution.
3. instagr.am:
Announcements will be sent in the form of message blasts through Tweegram and posted on instagr.am. Shortlisted finalists will be sent a private message through Statigram. Shortlisted finalists will then be required to provide their personal and contact details to ItsNotMagicItsScience and a copy of their submitted photo in the highest possible resolution.
4. Flickr:
Announcements will be made on the "Gas, Camera, Action!" Group page. Shortlisted finalists will be sent a private message through FlickrMail. Shortlisted finalists will then be required to provide their personal and contact details to ItsNotMagicItsScience and a copy of their submitted photo in the highest possible resolution.


Grand Prize Description

1. A total of three (3) Grand Prizes of one thousand (1,000) Euros each, will be awarded.
2. A total of three (3) Grand Prize winners: One (1) winner from each Contest platform (i.e: one (1) winner from Facebook, one (1) winner from instagr.am and one (1) winner from Flickr) will be selected by the panel of judges. Each winner will receive a cash prize of one thousand (1,000) Euros only.
3. The organizers will not be responsible for all or any (if any) additional costs, duties, taxes and/or other incidental charges which may be incurred as a result of and/or related to the winner's acceptance of the prize. All such additional costs, duties, taxes and/or incidental charges shall be borne at the sole cost and expense of the Winner.


Release
By entering into this competition or upon receipt of any prize pursuant to any entry, the contestant agrees, undertakes, covenants and declares that he/she releases ItsNotMagicItsScience.com and its respective panel of judges, sponsors, partners, subsidiaries distributors, advertising/promotion agencies, prize suppliers and each of their respective parent companies and each such company's officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively termed the "Released Parties") from and against any claim, or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation of the Contestant or any receipt or use or misuse of any grand prize to the Contestant.


Copyright Publicity and Use of Entries

1. All shortlisted thirty six (36) finalists will be required to provide the highest resolution version of their shortlisted photograph and caption that is fit for print, including their personal details such as date of birth, email address, address, country of residence and occupation , for public display at the World Gas Conference 2012 (WGC2012) event.
2. Notwithstanding that the copyright and ownership of all submissions shall belong to the respective contestants, the parties herein expressly agree that ItsNotMagicItsScience.com, the International Gas Union and the Malaysian Gas Association shall be permitted to use the said submissions in any way whatsoever as they shall deem fit free of royalties and without any form of payment whatsoever.
3. By participating in the Contest, the contestant expressly consents to ItsNotMagicItsScience.com and its Released Parties using the contestant's submissions including photographs, captions, name, age, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions and/or hometown, state and country for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without any reference , payment or consideration to the contestant.
4. The contestant expressly agrees and consents that ItsNotMagicItsScience.com and its Released Parties may edit, modify, alter and distribute the contestants submission and all other elements of such submission including, without limitation, the name and likeness of any persons or locations embodied therein, in any media now known or hereafter devised, worldwide, in perpetuity without reference or any compensation, permission or notification to the contestant or any third party.


General Conditions

1. By participating in this Contest, contestant expressly agree and consent to be bound by the terms and conditions and the rules and regulations of the Contest and agree that decisions made by ItsNotMagicItsScience.com and its panel of judges are final and conclusive and no appeal will be entertained.
2. ItsNotMagicItsScience.com reserves the absolute right to amend, modify, vary, delete or add to such terms and conditions and such rules and regulations from time to time or at any time as they shall deem fit with reasonable notice.
3. Notwithstanding item 2 above, ItsNotMagicItsScience.com reserves the absolute right to suspend or to stop the Contest or any part thereof for any fraud, technical failures or any other factor which in its opinion may affect the integrity of the Contest.
4. ItsNotMagicItsScience.com reserves the right to disqualify any contestant who has been found tampering with the entry process or the operations of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Rules. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimatacy of the Contest may be in violation of criminal and civil law ItsNotMagicItsScience.com reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent as permitted by law. Any failure by ItsNotMagicItsScience.com to enforce any term or its rights under these Rules shall not constitute a waiver of such right.


Limitations of Liability

1. The Released Parties shall not be responsible for:
 
a) Any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by contestant, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this Contest.
b) Technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions or disconnections in phone lines, or network hardware or software.
c) Unauthorised human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest.
d) Technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or processing of entries.
e) Late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, or stolen mail.
f) Any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize.
g) If for any reason whatsoever, a contestant's submission is confirmed to have been accidentally deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted or damaged, contestant may be allowed at the discretion of ItsNotMagicItsScience.com, to submit a replacement entry .


Disputes

The contestant agrees:

1. The Contestant agrees that any disputes, claims or causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved on an amicable basis without recourse to any form of legal action in any jurisdiction.
2. Any claims shall only be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs only.
3. The contestant agrees to waive all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages.
4. This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, instagr.am or Flickr.
5. By participating in this Contest, each contestant expressly agrees to be bound by the Rules and each contestant shall abide by the decision of ItsNotMagicItsScience.com and its Released Parties.
6. Each contestant agrees and declares that the International Gas Union, the Malaysian Gas Association or the Released Parties shall not be held responsible in the event of all or any claims by any parties for loss or damages or for personal injury or death arising out of the participation of the contestant in the Contest and for that purpose, each contestant agrees to indemnify and keep indemnified the International Gas Union, the Malaysian Gas Association or the Released Parties against all and any claims for loss or damages or for personal injury or death arising out of the participation of the contestant in the Contest.
